PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform display contrast all over the dislay face of a display device by kneading a solid electrolyte with fluororesin powder to provide elasticity and using the resulting electrolyte as the electrolyte of the display device. CONSTITUTION:A display electrode 4 made of electrically conductive transparent film of indium oxide or the like, an electrochromic layer 5 made of transition metallic oxide, an electrolyte 11 and an opposite electrode 7 are held between 2 transparent substrates 1, 2 to manufacture an electrochromic display device. At this time, as the electrolyte 11 a solid electrolyte such as powder of hexamethylenetetramine sulfate is used. This solid electrolyte is mixed with about 10-25wt% powder of fluororesin such as polytetrafluoroethylene to provide elasticity, and by bringing the electrolyte 11 into close contact with layer 5 in an elastic state, the display contrast is enhanced and made uniform. |
