Cosmetic pencil esp. with non castable core - has surrounding shell esp. of polyolefin cast around core

A pencil, esp. a cosmetic pencil or stick, has core surrounded by a casing of material which is cast around the core. The method is intended esp. for a prefabricated core of a material which cannot be produced by a casting process. More specifically, the surrounding casing is of polyolefins of low to middle polymerisation degree. The surrounding sheath itself may contain a friction-reducing agent and/or pigment. In the pref. prodn. method, the prefabricated core (equiv. to the pencil "lead") is placed in a mould and the surrounding polyolefin or similar material is cast around it. With this arrangement, the pencil can be readily sharpened even though the core may be brittle.
