The resonance-type sound attenuator with wide frequency range including high frequencies comprises splitter panels (1) provided with baffles (2) extending in directions across the flow and sound-absorbent material (4) arranged between these baffles. The baffles form pointed roof shapes (ridges 3) with at least partly equal inclinations. The material (4) is arranged only at the points of higher-order velocity maxima which occur at or near the centre line of the panel. The distance between adjacent ridges may be greater than or equal to three quarters the distance between a ridge above the level of the eaves (6) of the roof-shaped panel (2).
