摘要 <p>Cathodochromic, cathodoresistive, photorestive solid state material (which is sensitive to irradiation with electrons, alpha, beta, gamma and x-rays and light)with high spatial resolution consists of a mixt. or cpd. of a reducing or oxidising agent (I) with a (mixt. of) heavy or transition metal cpd(s). (II). (II) is in the form of a solid state matric and may be self- supporting or on a substrate and the material also has photochromic properties. (II) is a (hydr)oxide, bronze, acid, base or salt of W, Mo, Cr, Ni, Re, Rh, Ir, Pd, Os, Fe, Co or Mn, a mixt. or cpd. of these with (hydr)oxides, acid or bases of other elements. A layer of this type is formed by evapn. or sputtering in high vacuum on a substrate, pref. of metal, semiconductor or dielectric. The reducing agent is bound physically or chemically and is incorporated during or after prepn. of the matrix, pref. by physichemi- or iono-sorption. It has a functional gp. for chemical bonding to (II), so that a very high (I) concn. can be attained. For chemisorption, the chemically active site in the matrix is a Bronsted or Lewis acid (base)and in (I) a Bronsted or Lewis base (acid). The pref. functional coupling gps. are amino, pyridino, pyrimidino gps. or O or S atoms, which can form an onium cpd. For physisorption, (I) contains a polar gp. (nitrile or OH gp.). (I) is an alcohol, ether, ester, ketone, unsatd. hydrocarbon, aromatic or heterocyclic cpd. The material is specified for the prodn. of electrodes (esp. those which are highly dissolved), insulating layers which can be made electroconductive, i.e. contacted at definite points by irradiation or exposure to light, linear lattice polarisers, conductor traces and edge orientation of liquid crystals, e.g displays.</p>
