<p>Coating strips for walls, ceilings, floors, etc., are made from a mixt. of cement, fine sand, opt. cement pigments and a fibrous or granular reinforcing material, bonded together with a synthetic resin binder. Suitable reinforcing materials are e.g. glass fibres, glass mat, stone gravel, wood fibres or wood pulp. The binder is pref. an acrylic adhesive. The dry components are mixed with the liq. binder to form a paste which is spread onto a non-adhesive substrate to give parts of the required thickness and dimensions, and allowed to harden. Used esp. in the prodn. of decorative articifical brick coverings for walls, ceilings and floors. The materials are cheaper and easier to make than real brick and stone coverings for walls etc., and can be made in a wide variety of shapes, dimensions and colours without a baking stage.</p> |
