<p>Cycloalkyl-substd. oxirane-2-carboxylic acid derivs. of formula (I), and when R is H, their salts are new. R is H or 1-4C alkyl; Y is O or CH2; m is 0-6; n is 0-6; p is 2-11; the sum of m, n and p is 6-15, and m is other than 0 or 1 when Y is O. (I) are hypoglycaemic and hypoketonaemic agents with a relatively short duration of action. They are suitable for the treatment and prophylaxis of diseases due to disorders of glucose and lipid metabolism such as diabetes or diseases associated with pathologically elevated ketone body production. Ethyl 2-(5-cyclohexylpentyl) oxirane-2-carboxylate and ethyl 2-(2-(3-cyclohexyl propoxy)ethyl) -oxirane-2-carboxylate, are specifically claimed.</p> |
