The friction brake according to Fig. 1 is designed as a full disc brake and has a brake disc (2) against both sides of which friction rings (4, 6) can be pressed with the aid of a ball and ramp pressing device (9). The pressing device (9) consists of a plurality of ball and ramp devices which are arranged around a circular arc and between which and one friction ring (6) are arranged elastically tensionable elements (22) which are arranged in a supporting ring (24) and to which are assigned disc-shaped inserts (21) which are in each case parts of a ball and ramp device (10, 11, 21). It is thereby possible to apply the pressing forces more uniformly and avoid damage to the brake, such as, for example, crazing of the brake disc due to heat. <IMAGE>
