Vehicle control apparatus for controlling movement of a vehicle having a movable component comprising an electrical circuit (17) controlled by operation of a gear lever (13) of the vehicle and a switch (43) for actuating the circuit (17) when the component (11) has moved from a rest position. The arrangement is such that retarding means of the vehicle is actuated if the vehicle is driven forwardly for a predetermined distance with the component (11) raised from the rest position. |
