A sealing device for the joint between the door frame of a coke oven chamber and the door consists of a rectangular structure with two L-shaped guide rails, each carrying a runner on guide rollers. A drive motor moves the runners by endless chains. Each runner is equipped with a cleaning brush, followed by a gun with a nozzle for the spraying of a sealing compound on the joint flanges. This prevents the loss of valuable by-prods. and eliminates the pollution of the environment.
