<p>Fuel mixt. (I) comprises (with pref. concns. in wt.%): (a) a natural hydrocarbon fuel (20-70), e.g. gasoline, diesel oil or kerosine; (b) at least one easily available organic prod., e.g. an alcohol, pref. Cl-C6, (10-70), a ketone (4-15), an ether, an aromatic hydrocarbon (10-20) or the like; and (c) opt. antiknock additives or other substances (0.5-5). Where (I) is used for heating it may also contain demineralised water (20 max.). Additives under (c) can include isooctane, PbEt4, PbMe4, propylene glycol oleate, propylene glycol laurate and petroleum sulphonate. (I) is used in petrol- and diesel-engined vehicles and for heating. Oil prod., becoming more expensive, are partly replaced by readily-available materials. The energy yield is no less than from oil prods.</p> |
