Balcony trough for trailing plants - uses insert with curved top between plants and edge to protect stems from damage

The trough shaped plant growing container particularly for trailing plants and installed on a balcony or window sill is designed to protect the plants from damage. These tend to rub against the edge of the container when disturbed by the wind. An insert is used between this edge and the plants. The insert has a smooth plate suspended inside, in contact with one side, terminating in a curved too overhanging the edge. This curved top is corrugated to assist location of the stems. Alternatively the top edge of the container side wall can be shaped in this manner.
