A measuring method is specified for determining optical or electromagnetic properties of measurement objects, in which a measurement object is inserted into the beam path of a polarised electromagnetic radiation and the radiant power of the transmitted or reflected radiation or of a scattered radiation is measured. In order to permit the optical or electromagnetic properties of the measurement objects to be comprehensively determined in a simple way, the direction of polarisation of the incident beams, or the measurement object is rotated continuously or intermittently about the direction of radiation, the radiant power is subsequently measured as a function of the angle of rotation, and a compensating curve of a suitable material type and having a prescribed number of coefficients is matched to the measured values. <IMAGE>
