The invention relates to an incandescent lamp having a screw cap. Such incandescent lamps are produced in a known manner in large quantities, although, until now, it has not been possible to achieve exact alignment in a luminaire, especially in a luminaire having a hollow mirror reflector. In order nevertheless to be able to arrange such an incandescent lamp in a defined manner in a luminaire, it is proposed that the screw cap be screwed into a retaining body which has an internal thread and an axial stop surface, and that the luminaire body be at a predetermined distance from the stop surface, in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The said stop surface can thus be engaged in a simple manner with an associated surface of a luminaire, so that the luminaire body now also is aligned in a defined manner to the luminaire. The method for producing an incandescent lamp with a retaining body is preferably carried out in such a manner that the screw cap of the incandescent lamp screwed into the internal thread in the retaining body until the luminaire body is at a predetermined distance from the stop surface of the retaining body. <IMAGE>
