A direct-current detector is specified which exhibits a current/pulse duty ratio transducer element having a core of an amorphous soft-magnetic material on which a first and a second winding are mounted. A current to be determined is conducted via the first winding whilst the current flowing through the second winding is detected. Pulses having a predetermined frequency are applied to one end of the second winding whilst the other end of the second winding is connected to an element which converts the current flowing via the second winding into a corresponding voltage. The voltage produced across the element is integrated and then converted into an analog voltage. The duty ratio of the voltage pulses occurring across the element connected to the other end of the second winding changes in accordance with the intensity of the current flowing via the first winding, which changes the analog voltage.
