Material for flotation sepn. is injected into a centrifugal force field in at least two separate intersecting streams, one or more streams containing air to froth the material, and the streams having differing energy contents. One tangential stream of lower energy and carrying coarser grains is intersected by one or more radial streams at higher pressure. The claimed appts. has a vertical cylindrical container with the radial and tangential injectors spaced apart round the perimeter, and adjacent a coaxial pipe for extn. of flotation residue is either toroidal or divided into a succession of concentric jackets of outwardly decreasing inclination. Useful for treatment of mineral slurries by water/air dispersion, pref. with added flotation media. Mixing is more effective than in known appts. and provides sharp sepn. even with very fine-grained materials. |
