PURPOSE:To improve efficiency of a lamp by defining the length of electrodes and setting the proper conditions for operating the lamp. CONSTITUTION:End caps 2, 3 are fixed on both ends of a luminous tube 1 made of light-transmitting single crystal alumina. Electrodes 6, 7 or electrode conductors 4, 5 whose ends are provided with electrodes 6, 7 are fixed on these end caps 2, 3. The internal volume of the luminous tube is less than 2cm<3>, in which sodium is charged together with a buffer metal. The ratio of We/l of the wall load We(W/ cm<2>) obtained by dividing the rated power fed into the luminous tube 1 by the internal surface of the luminous tube 1 between electrodes 6 and 7 to the shortest length l(cm) from ends of electrodes 6, 7 on the discharging space side to the inner ends of end caps 2, 3 is adjusted to more than 28. |
