PURPOSE:To minimize errors of measurement depending on the depth of insertion of a plate into a foundry sand by making the plate rectangular. CONSTITUTION:A pair of plates 3 are mounted on a support member 5 through an electric insulator. The support member 5 is supported on a bracket 7 provided on a fixed frame 6 through a support pin 8 in such a manner as to be free to turn vertically while tiltable with a downward adjusting bolt 9 screwed on the bracket 7. Foundary sand to measure the water content thereof is conveyed with a belt 1 and a guide member 2 being maintained at a given height. When the bottom of the pair of the plates 3 is inserted into the foundry sand, current flows between the plates. The current varies with changes of the electric resistance following variations in the quantity of water in the foundry sand. |
