PURPOSE:To increase discharge capacity by applying to the positive electrode active substance of a non-aqueous electrolyte cell, manganese dioxide which is prepared by dissolving metal compound in manganese sulfate solution, then being subjected to electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:As the positive electrode active substance of a non-aqueous electrolyte cell, electrolytic manganese dioxide is used. The electrolytic manganese dioxide is prepared by having manganese sulfate solution which dissolves additional metal compounds, for example, lead sulfate, ferrous sulfate, bismuth sulfate, chromium sulfate etc. subjected to electrolysis. For example, it is prepared in such a way that 0.001-0.1mol of lead sulfate is added and dissolved in acidic H2SO4 soln. contg. and manganese sulfate which is constituted by dissolving 0.5-2mol of manganese sulfate in 0-0.5mol of sulfuric acid solution, which is then subjected to electrolysis under the conditions, 0.5-1.5A/dm<3> current density and above 80 deg.C, thereafter, electrically separated manganese dioxide containing lead is washed with water, dried and crushed. |
