The thermoelement or resistance thermometer comprises a connector head and protective tube with or without a thermocouple. Two or more protective tubes are used adjacent to each other rather than one inside the other. The arrangement enables more rapid and reliable measurement of the heated vol. The protective tubes (3,4) are inserted in parallel in the connector head (10) via a connecting piece (2). One of the protective tubes remains empty so as to enable a monitoring measurement to be performed. Pure aluminium oxide protective tubes are used with time constants only 40% of those in conventional use. The small time constants are compatible with good temp. regulation both during the heating up and constant temp. periods.
