The fixing of the base plate (3) and of the protective piece (4) to the base of the pot (1) is performed by a brazing process in which a suitable brazing material denoted (7) and (7') is introduced between all the surfaces to be joined. As the complex is heated during the brazing process, filler material (7, 7') diffuses uniformally between the joining surfaces of the pieces and in the gap (6) between the base plate (3) and the rim (5) of the piece (4) and between this rim and the base of the pot. In this way the peripheral rim (5) of the protective piece, too, is fully joined to the base of the body of the pot to provide a perfectly continuous surface with no recesses. <IMAGE>
