<p>An ignition coil (10) for an internal combustion engine includes a casing (1) made of iron material and a coil cap (2) made of an insulating material and secured to the opening end of the casing (1) to close it. The casing (1) contains a central core (4), a secondary coil (5) disposed about the outer periphery of the central core (4), and a primary coil (6) disposed around the outer periphery of the secondary coil (5). The coil cap (2) carries thereon primary and secondary terminals (8a, 8b), and is integrally formed with a cylindrical leg portion (2a) shaped to extend towards the inner bottom surface of the casing (1) and enclose the secondary coil (5) inward. The cylindrical leg portion (2a) is integrally formed at its outer periphery with upper and lower flanges (2c, 2d), and the primary coil (6) is wound around the outer periphery of the cylindrical leg portion (2a) between the upper and lower flanges (2c, 2d).</p> |
