The gun includes a work cylinder (1) contg. a piston (4) employed to force the mud out of cylinder (1) into a taphole. Cylinder (1) is made of a material with a specific strength, and its bore (7) is coated with a layer (9) of hard chromium, which is pref. 0.1-0.2 mm thick. The piston (4) is pref. fitted with one or more piston rings (6) forming a sliding seal in cylinder (1); and the Cr (9) is pref. ground to a specific bore dia. for cylinder (1). The invention provides an inexpensive mud gun with high wear resistance w.r.t. the refractory being injected into a taphole.
