[Also in Division H1] A battery plate grid is made by forming part of the grid from a synthetic resin material, preferably P.V.C., said part consisting of a rectangular frame 12 and an integral mesh 13, 14 joining the limbs of the frame, engaging a bifurcated lead lug 16 with said part of the grid so that the limbs of the lug extend at opposite faces of said part and resistance welding the limbs of the lug together so that they are interconnected through apertures in the mesh. The grid may be formed with a recess on one or both sides (15), Fig. 1 (not shown), to receive the limbs of the lug. After welding the grid is coined so that the lug is flush with the grid surface. |
