Fibrous materials such as compact dye cakes of fibres are fed by a lattice conveyor 2 to an inclined lattice conveyor 12 provided with claws which open and lift the fibres and allow them to fall into a hopper 28 to pass for further treatment e.g. drying; the claws are arranged on lattice conveyor 12 in lines oblique to the length of the conveyor. Conveyor 12 comprises, see Fig. 4, 6 not shown, side chains (20) with plain transverse laths (21). Every sixth lath is provided with two angled claws 24 of sheet metal each having four teeth. Successive pairs of laths are staggered to provide the oblique arrangement of rows, see Fig. 3 not shown. |
