PURPOSE:To obtain a toner with a narrow grain size distribution, superior charging controllability and superior shelf stability by carrying out suspension polymn. for manufacturing a toner in the presence of a slightly water soluble inorg. salt and an anionic amide type surfactant. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous soln. of calcium chloride is added to an aqueous soln. of sodium tertiary phosphate to prepare a liq. dispersion of a slightly water soluble salt. To this dispersion is added to a surfactant such as C11H23CON(CH3)CH2 COOH, and after further adding styrene, n-butyl methacrylate, trimethylol propanol triacrylate, carbon black, chlororubber and a polymn. initiator, suspension polymn. is carried out. After finishing the polymn., the polymer particles are washed to remove the sufactant, and they are acid-treated by dipping in an aqueous soln. of dil. hydrochloric acid to make the slightly water soluble inorg. salt existing on the particles soluble in water. The salt is then removed by washing. |
