PURPOSE:To increase the compression efficiency of a digital data, by properly using a data length of two types of short and long data in a prescribed condition, in storing or transmitting the digital data to others. CONSTITUTION:In compressing a sample value which samples an electrocardiographic waveform data at every prescribed period DELTAt, the data length of a long word data L0 is selected so that the maximum value of sampled data can sufficiently be covered. The data on and after the 2nd represent the data increment with the sample value just before in a short word length data L1. The 1st data D0 is a long word length data L0 and includes a head data a0. Succeeding data D1-Di-1 are short word length L1 data and include DELTAa1-DELTAai-1 respectively. When the i-th data ai from an electrocardiograph can not be expressed in the short word length data L1, a section signal M is inserted. |
