The slats of a bed base are fixed movably onto end blocks made of flexible material and forming part of long bars (2) of U-shaped (2a) cross section. Profiled supports are (1) laid flat to fit between the ends of the slats (3) in the lengthwise bars. Each profiled support has recesses (1a) for the end studs (1b) and one or more middle studs (1c) which fit in according to the height of the sides (2b) of the U-shaped lengthwise bar. A rectangular crosswise hole (1d) is situated in the top overlapping part on a level with the bar sides. Thinner sections (1e) are vertically bent to make a lower surface which is convex (1f) for the rectangular hole.
