PURPOSE:A flame-retardant resin composition causing no discoloration of the resin in melt molding or pollution of a working environment, which is prepd. by compounding a specified nucleus-substd. benzoic acid with a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. thermoplastic resin such as a polycarbonate or polyolefin resin is compounded with about 0.1-15pts.wt. nucleus-substd. benzoic acid of the formula (wherein X is hydroxy, mercapt, amino, or formyl group). It is possible to give higher flame retardancy by additional compounding with about 0.1- 40pts.wt. org. halogen cpd. such as hexabromobenzene. |
