A feeder serves to carry one sheet at a time from a bundle or stack of a sheet-shaped material to a delivery point. The feeder has one or more elevators 91, 92, which serve to support the bundle of material, and a corresponding number of reciprocating suction heads 912, 913, which can be moved between a position above the material bundle and a position at the delivery point. A pre-lifter 914, 915, which is situated on the associated elevator, has a suction head which serves to collect one sheet of material at a time from the material bundle and to move it to the position above the material, which the reciprocating suction head 912 can assume. The suction heads are moved so that they reach this position at the same time. <IMAGE>
