Photoactivatable resins are formed from a fluorinated pyridinyl azide, esp. of formula (I) (where X=Cl or F) and chitosan (II) (where n is such as to give a mol. wt. of 200,000-500,000). Prepn. of the resin is effected at 80-100 deg.C, in a solvent and opt. in the presence of triethylamine. Fixation of the biologically active material is effected within 30 mins, pref. 15-130 mins. in the presence of the required radiation. Contact of the resins with a biologically reactive molecule e.g. an enzyme or antibody, in the presence of radiation of wavelength 300-360 nm, gives a stable prod. in which the active material is fixed on the resin, and is suitable for enzyme reactions, or chromatography.
|
