<p>In the prepn. of polydodecanamide and the copolymer by melting omega-dodecalactam or its mixts. with other amide forming monomers and polymerisation of the melt at 180- 320 deg.C in the presence of a catalyst and a mol. wt. regulator, the melt is filtered prior to polymerisation through a layer of solid, oxidised particles of omega-dodecalactam with an elemental oxygen content of 10-24 wt.%. The filter layer is prepd. by heating omega-dodecalactam at 100-250 deg.C in the presence of oxygen and filtering the suspension to deposit the oxidised lactam layer, which has reduced resistance to the melt flow of lactam and good filtering properties of impurities in the monomer melt. The polymer is obtd. in improved yields with improved strength and elastic properties. The polyamide is used in vehicles, electronics, aviation, medicine and sport.</p> |
