Hafnium alloy - of good high temp oxidn resistance

The alloy contains Hf with 0.10-15 wt.% Cu (pref. 1-6) with opt. addns. of up to 5 wt.% Zr, 0.2% Sn and 0.2% Al, max. of 0.1% each of O, N, C, Si, P, B (pref. 0.06%), and total other impurities e.g., Nb, Ta, W, Mo, U of up to 2%. The alloy is ductile and easy to work, suitable for the mfr. of parts for gas turbines, turboreactors, or control rods for pressurised-water nuclear reactors, being resistance to oxidn. at temp. up to 1400 degrees C.
