Two door assemblies are pivotally mounted on the hopper (10) by support arms (16,19). Each door may be swung into and out of a position where it closes a discharge opening (11,12) in the lower part of the hopper. An operating mechanism (21) is provided for imparting swinging movement to one of the door assemblies (13), and toggle linkages (35) connect that door assembly to the other door assembly (14) so as to transmit corresponding swinging movement from the one door to the other. Since the operating mechanism operates directly on only one of the door assemblies, it does not require to be symmetrically disposed w.r.t. the two assemblies. The mechanism can be located externally of the hopper and to one side, and may be operated by a single pneumatic ram extending across the end of the hopper to the opposite side. A ram of long stroke may therefore be used, permitting large opening movements of the doors. |
