The bicycle seat is made of an elastic material and forms two cushions (3) filled with foam and a fluid and air mixture. An air chamber (8) between the two cushions is connected to the atmosphere by a number of air holes (7) and has a lip gasket (9) at its base so that any deformation of the cushions (3) changes the volume of the air chamber (8). Changes in volume of the air chamber cause a pump action which ventilates the seat surface in conjunction with grooves across the surface of the seat. By altering the lip gasket (9) the direction of air flow can be changed so that the rider can be kept cool when riding in warm weather.
