PURPOSE:To produce an oxygen sensor of high catalystic performance in which solid electrolyte and electrodes are firmly bonded by coating platinum group metallic paste added with material sublimating at elevated temps. on both surfaces of a solid electrolyte molding, and heating the same to specific temps. thereby forming porous electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Platinum group metallic paste added with powder sublimating at elevated temps. (e.g.; ZnO, GeO, PdO) is coated on both surfaces of a molded, calcined or sintered body 1 of solid electrolyte and is heated to temps. above the temp. at which the powder added to the paste sublimates in air and below the m.p. of platinum group metal, whereby porous electrodes 2 are formed. The electrode 2 on the outer side to contact with measuring gases is coated with a protecting film 3 of MgAl2O4. Thereby, the oxygen sensor of superior initial characteristics and durability performance is obtained. |
