<p>Number plates for motor vehicles are made of aluminium of other non-magnetic metal sheet, with the no. of the vehicle applied by a sublimination printing process using a layer of binder or lacquer which accepts unpigmented sublimination printing dyes. The pref. binders are methacrylate and/or acrylate resins, crosslinked with polyisocyanates. A magnetic code layer, with barium ferrite, platinum cobalt and/or cobalt samarium as the magnetisable particles, is arranged below the lettering, together with a retroreflecting layer. This gives greater security against falsifying a n number plate and requires no aggressive solvent for the printing process.</p> |
