A belt filter press has upper and lower endless rotating support belts each inclinedly mounted on two large drums held in a frame and defining a gradually tapering gap along which a slurry is fed during de-watering between filter belts whose circulation paths include the pressure section between the support belts. In the earlier part of this section support rollers above and below the gap are offset from each other, applying broad area pressure. In the later part are one or more pairs of rollers whose axes above and below the gaps lie in a common plane perpendicular to the pressure section, so that the rollers apply substantially linear pressure. Lateral sealing of the gap is provided by inclined transverse rollers together the edges of support belts and filter belts. Used for general sewage or for slurries in the coal, ceramic, ore industries etc. The linear pressure rollers remove water more effectively in the later filtration stages.
|
