1. An apparatus for manufacturing wood chips from small plates comprising : - a disk (1) rotatively driven about an axis (3) and comprising in the vicinity of its periphery at least one knife (2) ; and - a plate feeding device (5) bringing the plates in contact with the disk (1) and urging the plates against the said disk ; characterized in that it further comprises a truncated cone-shaped discharge conduit (8) which is mounted at the end of the feeding device, having a cross-section of sufficient dimensions to permit decompression/rotation of the plates, the opening of the discharge conduit being located at a distance adjustable with respect to the disk and being positioned so that the said knife passing during rotation of the disk, in front of the said opening.
