The compensating valve comprising a valve body having a valve chamber. A valve stem is reciprocably mounted in the body, and has a piston at one end responsive to pressure. A cavity in the stem adjacent the other end has an opening. A valve seat in the chamber has a passage in communication with the cavity of the stem. A divider in the chamber forms inflow and outflow chambers. Ports serve as a valve element for engagement with the seat, and communicates between the passage and outflow chamber. The ports have variable capacity in response to movement of the piston due to changes in pressure.
