The invention relates to a device and a method for cutting, or cutting and abrading, or cutting and pressing, or cutting and pressing and abrading dough, a metering station for feeding and cutting dough, a discharging station for the pieces of dough and, if desired, a pressing and/or abrading device being arranged along the path of a conveying carriage, which contains cutting chambers with cutting pistons, while the metering station contains a main chamber with main pistons, the cutting chambers being arranged, with the cutting pistons, in the conveying carriage in two or more rows which are transverse to the direction of movement of the latter. In the metering station, the cutting chambers of the conveying carriage or each row of cutting chambers are each essentially individually filled by the main piston. Then the conveying carriage is moved along its path and the pieces of dough are abraded in the cutting chambers and successively discharged from the individual rows of cutting chambers at the discharging station, after which process the conveying carriage returns to the metering station.
