PURPOSE:To obtain a measuring device for heat flow rates which is strong to mechanical impact and vibrations and has high responsiveness and sensitivity by forming a heat receiving surface which receives heat flow and heat radiation in a magnetic material kept in a magnetized state when the heat flow or heat radiation exists. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic field source 11 such as a permanent magnet or electromagnet is disposed on both sides in the width direction of a magnetic material 10 of a rectangular parallelepiped shape. The heat receiving surface 13 of the material 10 applied with a heat resistance insulation coating 14 is so provided as to receive the heat flow or heat radiation having the heat flow direction 15 shown by an arrow orthogonally. The direction 15 and the direction of magnetic force intersect roughly orthogonally and electrodes 16, 16' are oppositely disposed on the lines intersecting orthogonally with the above-mentioned orthogonal directions. A measuring devive 17 measuring potential difference is connected to the electrodes 16, 16'. Further the thermal contact to the electrodes 16, 16'. Further the thermal contact of a temp. sensor 18 is buried and fixed roughly in the central part of the material 10. With such constitution, the pontential difference of the electrodes 16, 16' is measured and the temp. of the material 10 is measured, whereby the quantity Q of heat flow is determined through the utilization of EN effect. |
