PURPOSE:To enhance a damping effect for a movable body which performs a rectilinear motion, by a method wherein a conductor plate provided with a plurality of parallel slits is fitted to the movable body, and the conductor plate is placed along a path for the movable body and in a magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic field generator H is rigidly fitted to the movable body 1 through a connecting member 12 and is moved in the direction of the X-axis of an XYZ orthogonal coordinate system concurrently with the movement of the movable body 1. The conductor plate D fixedly fitted to a stationary part by fitting parts 13, 14 at both ends thereof so that the plate D passes through the magnetic field generated by the field generator H and is kept stretched in the XY-plane along the path of the movable body 1 in the direction of the X-axis. The conductor plate D is provided with a plurality of parallel slits W which extend in the direction of the Y-axis. |
