Briquettes based on lime and flux for steel making use are made in a process in which (a) the granular size of the lime/flux mixture as a function of max. lime grain size is 3-8 mm in an area defined by two curves on a given graph, (b) the max. flux grain size is >=0.5-0.7 x that of the lime and (c) the lime/flux wt. ratio is 12:1 - 3:1. Esp., the flux may be calcium fluorite. Feo, bauxite or LD process fume particles.
