PURPOSE:To measure the draft with the sea water introduced into a pipe, by providing a vertical pipe at the bottom in ship, opening a hole at the position higher than the full load draft line, forming a transparent flexible pipe at the top of said pipe, and providing a scale. CONSTITUTION:A transparent synthetic hose or pipe 4 is vertically provided from the bottom along the stern bulkhead 3 of an engine room 2 in a stern engine ship 1. The lower end of the pipe is communicated to an existing inlet 5 such as a cooling water inlet or fire extinguishing water inlet via a manual valve 8. The hole is provided at the top end at the position higher than the full load draft line 6. The scale 7 is provided on the bulkhead 3, and the draft line 12 is obtained from the water surface in the pipe 4. Thus, the draft can be readily and accurately measured during the navigation even in the modern ship whose stern is overhung to the right and left. |
