PURPOSE:To inexpensively manufacture a ribbed steel sheet of a uniform quality in high accuracy with a good productivity, by previously giving a thick wall to a part of a steel sheet corresponding to a ribbed part. CONSTITUTION:A thick-walled part corresponding to a prescribed position, shape and dimension of a rib is previously given to a blank material to be rolled. This blank material is rolled by a rolling roll provided with a groove formed into a shape of a rib; hereby, one or more lines of the rib are formed. In this case, such a large size, wide breadth rolling mill as a broadly used hot strip mill or a thick plate rolling mill, can be employed. Especially in case of a large size, wide breadth rolling mill, its wide breadth is effectively utilized in forming many ribs in a steel sheet; hereupon, according to the shape of the formed rib, the once obtained ribbed steel sheet is slitted in a next pass, and hereby, a steel sheet provided with many ribs can be mass-produced at one time. |
