PURPOSE:To easily mark an identification mark on the inner surface of a hot coil with paint, by attaching a paint spray gun to a vertical support rod provided with a universal joint, and by moving the vertical support rod into the central cave of the coil while guiding the rod with an aligning mechanism attached to the tip of the vertical support rod. CONSTITUTION:A hot coil W of a strip is placed by a main stem 1 of a marking apparatus 20; an arm 3 is moved down along the main stem 1; if the bottom end of a coil's end face detecting rod 15 attached to the arm 3 contacts with the upper surface of the coil W, the descendance of the arm 3 is stopped. An aligning mechanism 5, attached to the tip of a support rod 4 hanging down from the tip of the arm 3, enters the central cave 18 of the coil W; then, the aligning arms 13a-13d expand so as to contact with the inner surface of the coil W; the universal joints 6A, 6B are then operated for bringing the support rod 4 to the center of the central cave 18 of the coil W. Then, a paint spray gun 8 goes down into the cave 18, and the paint is sprayed against the inner surface of the coil W in order to mark an identification mark. |
