摘要 1,240,026. Grinding. WILHELM LOH K.G. 30 July, 1969 [6 Aug., 1968], No. 38277/69. Heading B3D. A machine for grinding non-circular workpieces 21 comprises a feed magazine 5, rotatable stepwise to align workpieces 21 in turn with coaxial gripping spindles 3, 4 themselves rotatable so that each workpiece 21 may be lifted off the magazine 5 by the lower spindle 4 in a set orientation relative to a pattern 20 formed on one of the spindles 3 for grinding according to the pattern 20. A coarse grinding wheel 15 and a fine wheel 16 are supported on levers 7, urged towards the workpiece 21 by springs 11, and axially reciprocable by cam followers 35, segmented feelers 17, 17<SP>1</SP> engaging the pattern 20 to limit the depth of cut. To start a grinding cycle, the spindle 4, normally held retracted by a spring 56, is raised through a hole in the magazine 5 by a cam-operated lever 52, 54, and the upper spindle 3 is lowered by a spring 61, acting through a lever 60 and toothed segment 58, and normally opposed by a cable 62. The workpiece 21 thus engaged between the preferably concave spindle ends, is then riased by means of the lever 52, 54 to a position between the grinding wheels 15, 16, the spring 61 maintaining tight engagement of the spindles 3, 4, while blocks 69, 74 are engaged under a spindle flange 75 by cam-operated means, Fig. 7 (not shown), to prevent downward spindle movement. As the spindle 3, 4 are rotated in synchronism, Fig. 8 (not shown), grinding proceeds, the workpiece 21 finally being returned to the magazine 5 by retraction of the spindle 4, after an upward movement through the lever 52, 54 to enable release of the blocks 69, 74. To ensure a correct final workpiece orientation, a stop (45), Fig. 8 (not shown) on the cam 36 geared to the spindle drive, controls an overriding switch (46) to ensure than the spindle rotation ceases only after one complete revolution. Leaf springs 30 for locating oversize workpieces 21 within angle elements 24 of the magazine 5 are prevented by pins 31 from fouling return of the machined workpieces 21.
