The self-locking hinge for the car seat has inner and outer gears on opposite sides of the hinge with the inner gear having one tooth less than the outer and with an eccentric control to disengage the gears. On of the gears has a bearing shield attached to it to support the eccentric control shaft. The shield is rivetted to the movable part of the hinge and forms a compact and flat support for the control shaft.
