FILAMENTARY STRING FASTENER

A fastener (e.g. for attaching tags to merchandise) of one-piece construction is disclosed. The fastener comprises a member having a free end with a shoulder and a housing attached to the member and having a channel therein for receiving the free end of the member along an axis of insertion therefor. The channel contains a member which is immovable along the axis of insertion and locks with the shoulder of the free end when the latter is inserted into the channel regardless of the end of the channel into which the free end is inserted, the locking engagement being irreversible once made.
