NEW MATERIAL:Clerodin diterpene of formula I (R is formula II, or incoporate with the carbon atom R links with to form formula III). EXAMPLE:Methyl 4alpha-acetoxy-1beta-[2-(5H-fura-2-one-4-yl)ethyl]-decahydro-1alpha,2a lpha, 4aalpha-trimethyl-5alpha-naphthalate. USE:Insecticide. it is effective against Allmandillidium vulgare Latereille in Isopoda, Lepsima saccharina in Tysanura or Onychiurus in Collemboda. PREPARATION:Ajuga remota, a kind of beefsteak plant collected in Kenya of Africa, is extracted to isolate the compound of formula I. Namely, the plant is extracted with a solvent such as methanol and the extract is concentrated under reduced pressure. The resultant primary extract is extracted again with a solvent such as ether to obtain the secondary extract. The extract is subjected to silica-gel chromatography to obtain the objective compound. |
